Fresh berries are one of my favorite things about summer. The array of colorful berries at the marketplace is so alluring that I usually find it hard to resist buying a whole bunch of them. These delicate treats are highly perishable though so I'm always looking for ways to use them up. Of course, they are delicious served alone or with freshly whipped cream. But if you're looking for some fun and unique ways to use them, look no further.
Berries aren't only for eating- you can drink them too! Try making a twist on classic sangria using a mixture of fresh berries and white wine. You can also make a berry Bellini using berry puree and Prosecco, which is an Italian sparkling wine. Or muddle them with fresh herbs and rum for a play on the classic mojito. Strawberry basil and blueberry mint are both great flavor combinations.
